On Friday, September 1, 2022, the Google pilot’s new phase was made available to the public. This will enable Google Play Store users in India and some other countries to try alternative billing options for the purchases made on the platform. The new Google pilot feature has been rolled out for optimum user experience.
Google Pilot On Play Store
Google pilot is not something new on the play store. The tech giant had earlier announced the integration of it on the store for various reasons that would ease customer experience on the platform. It mainly concerned the purchases to be made on the platform. In a blog by Google (NASDAQ: GOOGL) in March this year, the company mentioned that:
“When users choose Google Play, it’s because they count on us to deliver a safe experience, and that includes in-app payment systems that protect users’ data and financial information. That’s why we built Google Play’s billing system to the highest standards for privacy and safety so users can be confident their sensitive payment data won’t be at risk when they make in-app purchases. We think that users should continue to have the choice to use Play’s billing system when they install an app from Google Play. We also think it’s critical that alternative billing systems meet similarly high safety standards in protecting users’ personal data and sensitive financial information.”
They then mentioned that they would work on this launch to add new aspects and make alternative billing systems available. This system was first enabled in South Korea and then was planned to be moved to some other countries, including India. This is what is happening now. The limitations of the Google Play Store billing system had affected consumer experience on the platform for a long period of time. However, it is now expected to be resolved once and for all.
