Flipkart Hotels: E-commerce Platform Aims To Make Bookings Easy

Indian e-commerce platform Flipkart announced on Tuesday that it has stepped into the hospitality sector with the launch of a new feature “Flipkart Hotels”. The e-commerce platform mentioned that the feature will permit the customers to book hotel rooms in and across 3 lakh domestic as well as international hotels. The announcement came on the same day after Flipkart Health completed a 15-day drone delivery trial in collaboration with Skye Air Mobility for transporting medicines to the pharmacies in Kolkata.
The Flipkart Hotels is backed by the API of Cleartrip. Thus, Flipkart will benefit from a deep understanding of the travel sector and the travel customers of Cleartrip. With Flipkart customer center people will be able to resolve their queries as well. Adarsh Menon, Senior Vice President of Flipkart said in a statement,
“We are excited to launch Flipkart Hotels on the Flipkart app, which will provide access to affordable hotel stays convenient for the customers. Flipkart Flight is on a steady path of growth in the travel industry since we entered this space.”
He further added,
“With Flipkart Hotels, we are strengthening our commitment to provide a better experience and superior service to our customers across metros and beyond tiers. With our banking partner's financial offerings, the customers will unlock great value in this segment and enhance Flipkart's capabilities as a preferred one-stop shop for the travel booking needs of Indian customers.”
Flipkart mentioned that alongside the launch of “Flipkart Hotels”, travel by Flipkart, it will offer some affordable benefits. This will include flexible travel and booking-related policies, budget-friendly options, and easy EMI options amongst others. The new feature will be available on the existing Flipkart app offering timely communication and a hassle-free booking experience via the popular messaging apps.
Flipkart added,
“2022 has been a great year for the hospitality industry so far with a notable surge in demand both in the domestic and international accommodation market. New travel trends like exploring lesser-known destinations, workations, long stays, and vacation rentals are becoming mainstream. These developments are giving a boost to the travel industry.”
In addition to this travel by Flipkart, Flipkart hotels also aim to provide improved services to the customers. Thus, a dedicated Flipkart customer center has been set up for supporting customers with various user-related queries. The move will push Flipkart Hotels to compete with the major hospitality providers OYO and other travel businesses such as Booking.com, Airbnb, Trivago, MakeMyTrip, and more.
