Top 5 New Year Cocktails 2021
With the new year’s eve, approaching heavily over the end of this week, we thought of sharing some of the best cocktails to mark the starting of 2022. There are a lot of cocktails out there that we will be starting, but along with that, we will share one of our favorite recipes: the French 75 Cocktail recipe with you all. So without any delay let us begin.
Set The New Year On Fire
You do not require fireworks to set off some illuminations this New Year’s Eve. Jumble up lime juice with mint leaves and simple syrup, then add some scotch and float a bit of Campari on top. That would be a great cocktail even if you pause there, but a lime shell that is filled with sugar and Bacardí 151 rum that is when set aflame brings it to an even higher level.
French 75 Cocktail
What about this festive mixture of lemon juice, gin, simple syrup and Champagne does not scream “a better year lies just ahead”? Just mix everything together except the Champagne and strain that mixture out into a flute, then top it with the Champagne and garnish it with a lemon twist. It is really that easy to prepare and even easier to drink.
Champagne Holiday Punch
When you are hosting a group of people, Champagne Holiday Punch is the way to go. Not only will it rescue you from spending the complete party playing the bartender, but a large punch bowl has a way of lifting a regular event into a festive matter. This punch from Eric Castro, who is the co-founder of San Diego’s Polite Provisions and Raised by Wolves, is especially festive. The nutty, earthy flavor of Genever is increased with Old Fashioned bitters, while Cointreau gets in sweetness and lemon includes brightness. Of course, Champagne has a starring role too, with its small bubbles bringing it all together with a fizz ideal for the holidays.
New Year’s Sparkler
Raise your typical bubbly with this easy yet delicious sparkler. Pomegranate juice and berry-flavored vodka lend their mesmerizing color and fruity flavor to the Champagne, and pierced raspberries allow it to bring it all together. This is an easy yet exquisite recipe that is just as perfect for an ornate party as it is for watching the ball drop from the couch.
Does just the concept of staying up until midnight (or later) to welcome in the new year make you yawn? Then you will be required to make some Rich Coffee for your festivity. This coffee merges herbal and bitter fernet, lightly sweet creme de cacao, along with your favorite brewed coffee. The mix forms a simple but flavorful cocktail that will have you buzzing in no time. Top it off with some of your homemade pistachio whipped cream and enjoy it whenever you feel a hankering for a pick-me-up.
French 75 Cocktail Recipe: The Best New Year Drink
The French 75 Cocktail history is long in New Orleans. The traditional recipe calls for grenadine, which formed a pink combination that is also pretty damn tasty. But during the 1920s, the recipe took a shift from grenadine to powdered sugar. By the 1970s the drink was shifted from the regular Collins glass to a champagne. There are various French 75 variations, but we will talk about only one variation. With that, let us have a look at the French 75 Cocktail recipe.
- 1.5-oz. dry gin
- 0.5-oz. fresh lemon juice
- 1 bar spoon superfine powdered sugar
- 3-oz. dry sparkling white wine/champagne
- Lemon peel
- Champagne flute or Coupe
- Cocktail shaker
- Cocktail strainer
- Fine-mesh strainer
- Paring knife
This French 75 Cocktail recipe requires 5 minutes to prepare. So the total time required to prepare this cocktail is just 5 minutes. As per the quantities stated above, this cocktail can be served to 1 person at a time.
- Chill the champagne flute overnight in the freezer.
- Add the superfine sugar and lemon juice to the cocktail shaker and mix until the sugar is fully dissolved.
- Add the ice and gin to the shaker, affix the cover, and shake thoroughly for nearly 15 seconds to blend the base.
- Get the glass from the freezer, then fine strain the cocktail into the flute with both the strainers, top that up with champagne, and gently stir once.
- Peel a long cover from the lemon and express the oils from the lemon peel on the glass.
- Slice the edges from the lemon to form a thin, long line of peel, twists like a tail of the pigs, and place on the glass’s rim. Serve.
