What Is The Camry SL Hybrid Like On The Inside?

The largest alteration to this car compared to the previous car is the infotainment screen which has increased from 7.0 to 9.0 inches. The company has shifted the air vents to make place for the larger display. The front seats that are completely covered with leather offer a major all day comfort along with their generous padding. They are adjusted electrically and they slide far enough to make place for long legged drivers, even though headroom was tight.

The Toyota Camry Hybrid is equipped with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine operating on the leaner, more effective Atkinson cycle. It is mated with a pair of electric motors, to enhance the peak power of 160kW and an undisclosed peak torque figure. Torque is placed to the road via an e-CVT, and the Camry is front-wheel drive. Toyota suggests a more expensive 95 RON premium unleaded fuel for this car and asserts it uses 4.5 liters per 100km on the joint test cycle.

Toyota Camry Price

The Camry SL Hybrid is the high range model for this year, with a sticker value of $46,990 before its on-road costs. That balances to just more than $52,000 drive-away as per the Toyota Australia website.

There are no immediate hybrid rivals for the Camry SL, but there are medium-to-large sedans in the market that match up with it on price.

The Mazda 6 fits in the second place on the sales diagram behind the Camry. The GT SP ($46,690 before on-roads) is an ideal match for the Camry SL based on price, even though its blacked-out details and turbo petrol engine implies it will appeal to a varied crowd.

Over at Skoda, the Octavia 140TSI Limited Edition is $3000 more pricey than the Camry at $49,990 before on-roads but provides more power in a sharp-edged package.

Prices for the 2022 Toyota Camry range is stated below:

  • 2022 Toyota Camry Ascent petrol: $30,990
  • 2022 Toyota Camry Ascent Sport Hybrid: $36,290
  • 2022 Toyota Camry Ascent Hybrid: $33,490
  • 2022 Toyota Camry SX Hybrid: $39,190
  • 2022 Toyota Camry SL Hybrid: $46,990

The Closing Lines

The latest Toyota Camry does not deviate too far from the real formula laid down by its ancestor, for worse and better. The hybrid powertrain is still unbelievably economical, and bigs on around-town ease in a way none of its competitors can match. There is more than a Lexus about the way it drives, which can only be a nice thing. Other models include Toyota Camry 2007, 2008, 2012, and 2020.
