Few Amazing London Fashion Week 2022 Moments

London fashion will always stay the artsy, cool kid of the fashion week schedule. It will always be perfect even if it does not try to be one. London Fashion Week Fall 2022 followed this paradigm to a tee, trading in locker lined halls for glitter catwalk. We have rounded up some of the most celebrated moments from this year’s Fashion Week in London. This will have the list of London Fashion Week designers.

1. A Young Designer Provides a Jolt

Priya Ahluwalia is an exciting name that is new on the London Fashion Week calendar. Since she launched her brand in 2018, she has won the LVMH prize in 2020, and she recently collaborated with Ganni and the collaboration is on an upcycled collection. In the past, her creations have drawn inspiration from her dual Nigerian-Indian heritage, and this time her works dealt with the blend of both these with reference to both Bollywood and Nollywood.

A satin, one-shoulder fuchsia top, for instance, imitates a sari which we often see in a Bollywood romance, and a short, tie-dye dress draws upon the sex appeal that she saw in a Nollywood film. The combined impact was energetic and colorful and offered a welcome, more positive jolt to an otherwise gloomy week.

2. Vivienne Westwood Delivers, As Always

The phrase “give the people what they want!” will pulse through your brain as you toured the Vivienne Westwood showroom that is in London. And you may ask what is that? Corsets, lots of them. The iconic corsets of Westwood, which she debuted in the ’70s and reissued in 2019, have had a revival in the past couple of years. So much so that when 100 teens were polled in 2021 regarding what they were purchasing, the most famous style of top was a corset. The collection also featured other eminent pieces alongside notes outlining the sustainable practices of the brand, like a pencil dress that is made from leftover fabric from other seasons, along with tartan jackets and pants prepared with mulesing-free wool.

3. A Party Dress Brand Gets Thrifty

Molly Goddard was an original family affair this season. Her infant son, Frank, was front row and her collection was inspired by the best friend of her mother, who Goddard says was a,

“Central character in the Portobello social scene in the ’80s and ’90s. I would describe her from what I can remember as a cross between Marilyn Monroe and Mick Jones.”

She further added,

“Big bleached blonde hair with a flower in it, red lipstick, a ’50s dress with an army jacket and trainers.”

Goddard’s sister, Alice styled her collection, which took a more casual, daytime attempt to the signature ruffled party looks of the brand. Skirts and dresses were lined with cotton and sweaters hung low, below the “bum,” as the Brits say, to form a more relaxed silhouette. Goddard also presented some shredded denim and canvas looks also, creating upon her eccentric and youthful aesthetic, but making it a bit thriftier.

4. One Designer Has a Dominating Effect

Richard Quinn knows exactly How to Make a Statement. In the span of nearly 20 minutes, Violet Chachki of RuPaul’s Drag Race walked a gimp down the runway; a string quartet and a choir sang Olivia Rodrigo’s “Traitor” and Lila Moss, Kate Moss’s daughter, showed up as a bride. And we are not even talking about the clothes yet. The collection, which was mainly couture, featured diversity on the voluminous coats he is popular for that are worn with hats that covered most of the faces of the models, just leaving two eye holes for them to find a way around the string quartet. There were also floral gowns, that were paired with latex gloves, and a very bulbous pants suit.

5. An Emotional Showing

At 16 Arlington a walking collection titled “Tears” was a tribute to designer Marco Capaldo’s partner, Federica a.k.a. Kikka Cavaneti, who passed away at the age of 28. The collection began with white, angelic looks and created into what was a mesmerizing progression of color, that featured baby-blue sequin gowns, iridescent flared pants, and brown leather miniskirts. Many of the looks had feathers that had been dyed by Cavaneti. Recordings of her voice were played overhead, filling the space, as her family and friends hugged in the front row. This was the most moving moment at London Fashion Week this year.
