Indian Bank Holidays: Full List Of Holidays For May 2021

The Covid-19 pandemic chaos nationwide is affecting 4 lakh people, daily. In this situation, the banks are advising their customers to stay at home and carry out their work through internet banking even though it is important for people to visit the banks in person. But before you visit the bank you need to know about the Indian bank holidays that have been scheduled for the month of May 2021. 

Like every month, in the month of May, banks will be closed for a few special occasions as mentioned by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). Banking operations for the customers will remain closed on these specified days. Let us see all the Indian bank holidays for May 2021. 

As stated by the Reserve Bank of India, in May all the banks will remain shut for 12 days according to the Indian bank holidays list. Though many holidays have already been passed, there remain 8 more holidays in May 2021 where the banks will remain shut. 

Holidays that have been permitted to the bank employees under the Reserve bank of India’s (RBI) holiday schedule are placed under three acts: Negotiable Instruments Act, Holiday under Negotiable Instruments Act and Real Time Gross Settlement Holiday, and Banks’ Closing of Accounts. 

The Indian bank holidays in May 2021 include Ramzan-Id (Eid – Ul – Fitr) on May 13, Bhagavan Shree Parshuram Jayanti or Ramjan – Eid (Eid – UL – Fitr) or Basava Jayanti or Akshaya Tritiya on May 14 and also Buddha Purnima on May 26. 

These holidays will be adopted by most of the banks in India except a few according to the holidays declared by the states. Other than that there are all the gazetted holidays that will be incorporated into this schedule.

  • May 14, 2021: Bhagvan Shree Parshuram Jayanti/Ramjan-Eid (Eid – UI – Fitra) or Basava Jayanti or Akshaya Tritiya
