Walmart stands as the largest retailer in the world. It started as a single discount store 50 years back. As approximately estimated, 220 million customers and members visit nearly 10,500 stores as well as clubs under the 48 banners in 24 countries and e-commerce sites. Walmart boasts a revenue of $559 billion in the fiscal year 2021 and employs over 2.3 million associates all over the world. It is a public retail business that started on the 2nd of July, 1962 in Rogers, Arkansas by Sam Walton. Formerly, it had a number of names that kept modifying and became Walmart. The names are: Wal-Mart Discount City (1962–1969); Wal-Mart, Inc. (1969–1970); Wal–Mart Stores, Inc. (1970–2018). One of the subsidiaries of Walmart had entered India (acquired via bid winning) in May 2009 as Flipkart Private Limited’s major share was under them. On the 24th of August 2021, Walmart had announced the launch of a new line of business termed as “Walmart GoLocal”. It extends its expertise in the goods delivery to the businesses and the customers of all sizes.
