Exxon Mobil Corporation is a multinational oil and gas corporation in America. Headquartered in Irving, Texas, it is one of the largest direct descendants of Standard Oil of John D. Rockefeller. The company was formed on the 30th of November, 1999 as a result of the merger between Exxon (earlier named as Standard Oil Company of New Jersey) and Mobil (earlier named as Standard Oil Company of New York). The primary brands of the company are Mobil, Exxon, ExxonMobil Chemical and Esso. ExxonMobil is incorporated in New Jersey. The public company serves worldwide. Despite this, the company had been criticized for its relatively slow response to the cleanup efforts following the 1989 Exxon Valdez oil spill in Alaska. It was considered as one of the worst oil spills in the world in terms of the amount of damage it did to the environment. The company has also been the prime target of accusations of not properly dealing with human rights issues, influence on the American foreign policy, and its impact on the future of the nations.
